Let’s Just Call This A Swine Flu Update
HERE, MY attempt is to grab a few H1N1 stories that are indicative of those being told in newspapers, video and the Internet. There’s something for everyone — for the adamant denier that there’s anything to worry about, and hypochondriac alike.
Though I present various opinions, I wish to share mine.
Given what’s observable so far, I will not be getting vaccinated for the following reasons:
1. Over 25, under old age, healthy and fit, I’m not in the high risk category.
2. It’s been many years since I’ve succumbed to the flu or similar.
3. I’m confident in the kitchen sink worth of supplements I take to enhance my immune system and target bad germs and viruses.
4. I wash my hands frequently. (Seriously, this helps.)
Of course, I’m not you, and you need to comply with who your are. If you go the no vaccination route, do have an alternative strategy. Take supplements you think will be helpful. I’m taking the three presented here, as well as a group of supplements combined into Maximum Wellness Formula, and may add some homeopathic remedies which I intend to write about in the next two or three days.

Now on to some summaries of recent material about H1N1 Swine Flu…
Obama Being Tested Over Shortages of Flu Vaccine
Despite months of planning and preparation for the H1N1 Swine Flu pandemic, there are substantial shortages in flu shots and the administration may take the brunt of a public backlash. As of Wednesday, October 28, 2009, 22.3 million vaccine doses had become available, versus the 120 million that in July was projected to be available now. The blame is being placed on the manufacturers who made the 120 million estimate, but inevitably if things go wrong, the president will be blamed. Read the full story here.
Less than Half of Parents Consenting to Inoculation
In New York City, parents of public school elementary children are balking at giving their permission for their kids to be given the H1N1 Swine Flu vaccination, despite children being considered to be in a high risk category, along with pregnant women and the unhealthy. There’s a tug of war between officials and parents, the former declaring that the flu shots are safe, and the latter ambivalent about the degree of testing and the severity of the flu. Interestingly, 100% of the population need not be vaccinated in order to achieve substantial reductions in flu outbreaks: Japan’s experience suggests that when 50% of school children are vaccinated, the community’s risk falls by two-thirds; at 70% vaccinated, the risk plummets to 4%. Could the H1N1 vaccine could pose health threats or other side effects? There’s been plenty of speculation, both learned and hysterical.
Rumors have been rampant in the United States and elsewhere that it’s a dangerous vaccine, spurring debate on whether or not to get it. Some even say it is part of a larger conspiracy theory.
CBS News decided to address the hot topic directly through an investigation on the dangers of the H1N1 vaccine. Two vaccine experts are interviewed, and they delve into the issues wrangled by mother’s trying to make a decision about vaccinating their kids.
Interestingly, one interviewee makes the point that only 1% of people vaccinated will have averse effects, but that’s extrapolated from an average populated test sample; it may be more problematic with people with ongoing health problems.
That said, 30 to 50% will have mild or no symptoms, and many more who get very sick will not have their life endangered.

Nurses oppose mandatory immunization

The BIG business of Swine Flu
It shouldn’t be a surprise that drug makers and doctors are making billions of dollars during this pandemic; after all, this is America and nothing gets people performing like the profit motive. Per usual pandemic flus, taxpayers are footing the $1.5 billion check for the 250 million swine flu vaccines that the U.S. government has ordered so far and will be distributing free to doctors, pharmacies and schools. In addition, Congress has set aside more than $10 billion this year to research flu viruses, monitor H1N1′s progress and educate the public about prevention. Read the full story here.
The Swine Flu Swindle
You can find anything on the Internet, and nothing stokes the fires of opinion like a pandemic. Tuberose.com rails against the government’s attempt to inoculate the willing as a prelude to enforced vaccination which they say is part of a strategy for someone(s) to get world domination.
